CHOICE
June 21st has been declared Knowlton Township Beaver Day.
On another topic, this is a blurb from an e-newsletter I received today from FARM:
NEW CHOICE Website Unveiled…
CHOICE is pleased to announce the unveiling of it’s new website at www.choiceusa.net. Log on to the website a have a look at the specialized sections for Parents, Teachers, Food Service, School Administrators, Students and Activists. Or visit the “In the News” section for an up-close look at what’s happening in children’s nutrition and school meals. The website includes an array of material including Information, Insights, Tips, Fact sheets, News, Recipes, Resources, Lesson Plans, Home Activities, and Support Materials, as well as Games, Stories, and Activities for Students.
CHOICE seeks to provide our school children with healthy alternatives to the meat and dairy-based diet that prevails in our nation’s schools. A plant-based diet contains no cholesterol, is low in saturated fat and high in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses, which kill 1.4 million Americans annually and cost our nation hundreds of billions of dollars in medical costs and lost productivity.
CHOICE produces and distributes teaching materials, supports parents working for change in their schools, assists school administrators and food providers in developing healthier meals, encourages students to select healthier food choices, and reports on similar efforts throughout the U.S.
In other news….Resolution Passes Senate / Workshops Announced
ACR 16, the resolution requesting all California public schools to offer vegetarian meal options at lunchtime, has successfully passed the California State Senate! This means California parents have the backing of their State Senate when requesting vegetarian options in schools. In honor of this fantastic victory, Barbara Gates, the activist behind the resolution and CHOICE Director Susan Wieland will be offering workshops in California.
Ready to make a difference in your local school?…contact Susan Wieland at 1-877- 6 CHOICE for further information regarding workshops and available support materials.
Surfing around this site led me to a couple of things I’d like to post:
Nutritional comparisons between The Good Dog and other hot dogs (and availablility and preference trends for vegetarian meat alternatives — even among meat-eaters):

VegTV clips on various topics:

If you don’t have time to view all of these videos, please at least watch the one by Dr. Michael Klaper. The life you save may be your own!
In a lifetime, the average meat-eater in North America consumes 15 cows, 24 hogs, 900 chickens and 12 sheep + 1000 pounds of flesh from animals that either swam in water or flew in the air. Forgive me, but, I can’t get this quote out of my mind:
“While we are the living graves of murdered beasts, slaughtered to satisfy our appetites, how can we expect ideal conditions on this earth.”
– George Bernard Shaw
Atherosclerosis is caused by the consumption of animal products, and is the # 1 cause of death (1 heart attack every 30 seconds in North America). Atherosclerosis is reversible…. Don’t believe me. Watch the video clip, and then ask your doctor if you have questions.
“The doctor of the future
will give no medicine
but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
– Thomas Edison
How long ago did he live? And when will that future arrive?
