THINK FUR TRIM IS JUST HARMLESS SCRAPS? WATCH THE FUFANU!
As Dr. Seuss’s “The Cat in the Hat” has taken box offices by storm
this holiday season, a Seuss-like spoof on the killing of animals for
fur-trimmed clothing and accessories has just hit the web. The Fund
for Animals’ three-minute musical Flash movie–titled “There’s a
Fufanu in My Collar Too!”–tells the story of Penny, a young woman who
has just purchased a fur-trimmed coat and handbag, only to have a
Lorax-like creature, the Fufanu, emerge from her collar to tell her
about the origin of fur. The Fufanu takes Penny on a trip to the
gruesome Animangle Fur Ranch, Inc.–operated by the Grinch-like
Animangler–where caged animals sing about the grotesque cruelty used
in the making of fur trim. Penny has a change of heart, throwing away
her fur-trimmed coat and handbag and singing, “My choice for fashion
is compassion…They need it more than we do.” You can watch the
Fufanu, and send the movie to others, by visiting:
