‘Amen’ to the Episcopal Diocese of New York!
Please click here to read the September, 2004 issue of Amen, “an occasional publication of the Liturgical Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of New York”! (And there is no occasion like the present!)
This newsletter includes an excellent and compelling book review of Animal Rites: Liturgies of Animal Care, by (the Rev. Dr.) Andrew Linzey, and also includes details and links to the Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals, and the Episcopal Network for Animal Welfare. Thank you, New York! (You know who you are.)
Coming from a group as respected as the Liturgical Commission must be, this newsletter is probably the most credible endorsement I’ve read to date for Episcopalians taking animal advocacy seriously as a Christian ministry. I am ecstatic that this is going out to so many church leaders in the Diocese of New York, and far beyond. It is high time that Episcopalians become as familiar with Andrew Linzey, as the secular animal rights community has been for years. And I certainly appreciate the information it relays about ASWA and ENAW!
