Animal Blessing Services; Animal Welfare Sunday 2004

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

‘Why we should be concerned for the welfare of animals’, by the Rt. Rev. John Austin Baker, is an excellent article that is worthwhile for Christians, and especially for all Anglicans & Episcopalians to read. This article originally appeared in the 9/24/2004 issue of The Church of England Newspaper, but is still available at the all-creatures.org site linked above.

Also, since there are many searches for ‘animal blessing services’ this time of year, many people find my page that links to some really good animal-friendly sermons. But if anyone is looking for an on-line Animal Blessing Service to use, please check out ENAW’s site for an adaptation of ASWA’s ‘Animal Welfare Sunday’ service. (If you click on Animal Welfare Sunday it will link to an older article that I was sent a couple of years ago. It is also worth reading.)

On 10/9/04, I received hard copies of two more articles from the Church Times’s 10/1/04 issue. You can read them here:

- “The Loving Creatures We Are”, by Andrew Linzey

and

- “Peering through the bars of laboratory cages: We need greater information about animal experiments, argues John Austin Baker

Also, here are two other things I was sent pertaining to Animal Welfare Sunday:

RSPCA launches new church service for animals
I understand that this service might become a downloadable file on the RSPCA’s website. If not, you can ask them how you can obtain a copy. Or, if you are a priest living in the USA, you can request a copy by emailing info@episcoveg.com.

(Please note that Episcoveg does not answer emails unless they pertain to church and animals. Spam and solicitations are deleted.)
